After topping off my four years of college with a bang by going to the Bahamas and having a few subsequent weeks of summer to myself, I finally begin my life as a legitimate human adult by starting my full-time post-grad job today. All those sleepless nights spent studying for midterms, writing papers last minute, or partying it up with friends in my dorm on the weekend are over. This indie-rock group out of Omaha Nebraska has been working long beyond a day or two, as their first album was released almost 20 years ago in 1998. Lead singer Conor Oberst has become an icon in indie music scene over the past several decades, most notably with Bright Eyes but also with his featured roles in other bands including Desaparecidos, Norman Bailer (The Faint), Commander Venus, Park Ave., Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, Arab Strap and Monsters of Folk. He was also named Best Songwriter in 2008 by Rolling Stone Magazine and has drawn influence in his music from artists like The Cure, Simon Joyner, Neil Young, and Leonard Cohen just to name a few.
